Congratulations to Ferbane Junior Cs
The Ferbane Junior C Footballers captured the County Championship in style on Saturday 17th October last when they defeated a spirited Tubber team in Ballycumber. The win ended a drought for the Club who hadn’t won a County at any adult grade for 13 years. The Super "C s " led from the first ten minutes with early goals and were never in danger. Congratulations to all involved from their main sponsors.
Birr Oil Takes Off
Gary "Hurricane " Higgins takes to the skies in his Birr Oil sponsored Ford Escort Mark 2 at The Galway Summer Rally. Gary was the winner of class 10 at his years Galway Rally. Continued best wishes to Gary and his team.

20 Years in Business
Flaherty Fuel Oils celebrate 20 years in the oil business in 2009. In March 1989 the company made their first deliveries to farms, househols and garages in the local area. Operating from Ballylin Ferbane, which is now the head office of their business, the company started with one truck and two employees. In the 20 years since the firm has grown year on year to be one of the largest oil companies to a point where it has 3 depots, a large fleet of modern trucks and a dedicated workforce, covering 10 different counties with up on 50,000 customers.
In the intervening years the oil sector has seen many changes with almost all the family owned concerns going out of business and the larger multi-national owned companies taking over. However during all of this time Flaherty Fuels along with it’s sister companies Garbally Oil of Ballinasloe and Birr Oil have continued to expand and prosper, in what many describe as a cut throat business.
The company would like to take this opportunity to thank all of it’s customers over the years for their loyalty and support, without the customers we would have no business.

The GAA Connection
Flaherty Fuels have a long association with Ferbane GAA. Going back to the mid 1980s when they were the main sponsors of the “Green Fields Festival”. After that they were they first company to sponsor the club when the GAA allowed corporate sponsorship on the team jerseys, and the Flaherty Fuel name has remained on the jerseys every year since.
The Ferbane Senior Footballers won the Leinster Senior Football Championship in 1986 and won 6 out of 7 County Championships between 1986 and 1992 a feat that the Flahertys are proud to have been associated with.
